Energy Ministry says early fuel import ban lifting possible

MOSCOW, Jun 25 (PRIME) -- The Russian Energy Ministry can consider an early cancellation of  prohibition on imports of fuel, which would otherwise remain in force until October 1, the authority said in a statement on Thursday.

"The Energy Ministry continues to monitor feasibility of keeping the prohibition on imports as the market conditions normalize and will consider an early cancellation," the ministry said.

The government imposed the prohibition from June 2.

The ministry also said that it sees no reason for regulatory changes on the fuel market. "The Energy Ministry of Russia continues to monitor the situation on the fuel market on a daily basis and sees no reason for regulatory changes now," it said.

The lower limits on fuel sales on the commodities exchange must be abolished July 1, the ministry said, confirming an earlier plan.
